Memory foam is a foam material made of polyurethane and other chemicals. It has the characteristics of temperature sensitivity and viscoelasticity. It can change its shape according to the temperature and pressure of the human body, fit the curve of the body, and provide a comfortable sleeping experience. It is sometimes called viscoelastic polyurethane foam.
The history of memory foam can be traced back to 1966, when NASA developed a material that can absorb impact and disperse pressure in order to improve the safety of astronauts. This is the prototype of memory foam. Later, this material was used in medical equipment such as wheelchair cushions and hospital mattresses to relieve patients' pain and pressure sores. In the 1980s, the formula of memory foam was made public and began to enter the civilian market, mainly used in mattresses, pillows, cushions, etc.
1. Polyurethane foam: Polyurethane foam is a polymer material. Its density and hardness can be controlled by different formulas and processes during its preparation. It also has good elasticity and wear resistance.
2. Temperature sensitivity: Memory foam can adjust its hardness and shape according to the user, and has a significant effect in relieving pressure and reducing muscle fatigue.
3. Sound insulation and shock isolation: Good sound insulation and shock isolation effects allow memory foam to be used in products such as furniture and car seats, reducing the impact of noise and vibration on the human body.
1. Foaming molding: The production of memory foam first requires mixing polyurethane prepolymer with foaming agent, and then foaming and molding in the mold. By controlling the type and amount of foaming agent, the density and hardness of memory foam can be adjusted.
2. Mold opening and curing: The memory foam after foaming needs to be molded and cured to form a stable molecular structure under certain temperature and humidity conditions. This step is very important for the elasticity and stability of the finished product.
3. Cutting and shaping: The cured memory foam can be cut and shaped according to the requirements of the product design to make memory foam mattresses and memory foam pillows of different shapes and sizes.
